Stars support College festival

21/12/2006

HOPWOOD Hall College recently hosted a girls' football festival for primary school teams.

The Mayor was present and handed out medals at the close of the festival and also in attendance were female footballing role models Sue Smith, an England international, and Hong Hong, the most capped female player for China.

The festival format involved four skill stations- dribbling, passing, motor skill and fun games.

Every girl received a football donated by Rochdale AFC, and will get free admission to Rochdale's home game against Bristol Rovers on 13 January.

Names will be drawn from a hat to decide which two schools will get the chance to represent girls football in a mini-game on the pitch during half time.

The festival was supported by Rochdale MBC Sports Development Service and Rochdale AFC's Football in the Community Programme.
