Heywood hold Stonemasons

FLEETWOOD came to The Stonemasons on Sunday to take on Heywood in a ding-dong encounter which finished 5-5.

It was Heywood's third draw of the season in the Lancashire GMC Super League, but they are still searching for their first win.

Mick Milner, Chris Jacques, Paul Langford and Peter Skerritt put Heywood 4-2 ahead, but the next three sets went to the Fleetwood men before Billy Brooks guaranteed a share of the points.

Heywood's man of the match Paul Langford enjoyed a 77.74 average score.

Three teams share top spot in Division One of the Heywood Ladies League going into the Christmas break.

All of them won last week.

Brunswick beat former joint leaders Woolpack B 5-2, while Hare and Hounds and Bay Horse had 4-3 wins over Tanners and Heywood A respectively.

Crown and Engineers, who have a match in hand, share the lead in Division Two.

Crown beat Brown Cow 4-3. Maureen Brearley hit a consolation 180 for the losers.

Engineers won for the eighth time in 10 outings. They beat Browns Wine Bar 6-1.

Heywood United Services beat Freemasons by the odd game in seven in the battle of the bottom two.

The surprise result in the Admiral Taverns Heywood Men's League came at St James where the home team beat joint leaders Bay Horse 4-3.

Engineers and Summit both won and top the table with 16 points, but Engineers have a match in hand.

Division Two also has joint leaders.

Cricket Club beat Crown 7-0 to stay level with Heywood United Services on 14 points.
