Langford heads list of Heywood throwers

DARTS: PAUL LANGFORD was the top Heywood player with an average score of 72.03 from the three games he played in the Greater Manchester Super League during the summer.
He finished in second place in the first division list, John Downs (Blackley VASA) topping the table with a 73.26 mean score.
Other prominent Heywood players are Scott Howarth (66.99), sixth, and Billy Brooks (66.89), one place below him. Carl langley was the top 180 scorer among the Heywood team.
He struck three treble 20s on three occasions. Jimmy Phillips hit two maximums, while Paul Langford and Billy Brooks obliged with one apiece.
The most prolific 180 scorers during the summer in the Heywood men's League were Darren Latham and Jimmy Phillips with eight apiece but Latham, from the Duke of Wellington, and Phillips, who plays for St James FC, ended third and fourth respectively in the final ton table.
Top of the shop was Mark Eccles from the champs, Engineers, with 76 three-figure scores, 11 more than Paul Benson from the Bay Horse.
Close encounters last week in the Heywood Ladies League saw the Stonemasons beat the Bay Horse 4-3 and Crown overcome the Heywood A by the same score.
In the second division it was the odd set in seven that the Woolpack B won at the Highlander.
