Heywood throwers have Blackley for starters

DARTS: THE long Lancashire GMC Super League season starts on Sunday with second division Heywood entertaining Blackley at their new venue, the Highlander.
"We are looking to achieve a top-half position and I believe we can," said team manager Peter Rhodes. He is delighted that the Highlander have come in with £500 sponsorship and that a couple of his players have attracted individual sponsorship.
"It is a long and arduous season - and an expensive one with travel to away matches the main cause for concern, so the money we have from our sponsors is vital," he said.
The full fixture list is: Sept 7 Blackley (h); Oct 11 Lancaster (a); Oct 18 Castleton (h); Nov 16 St Annes (a); Dec 7 Longridge (h); Dec 14 Stockport Boro (h); Jan 4 Clitheroe (a); Jan 25 St Annes (h); Apr 19 Longridge (a); May 3 Stockport Boro (h); May 24 Clitheroe (h). All matches starts at 12.30pm.
There were three 180s last week in the Heywood men’s Summer League from three players who all ended up on the losing team!
Pete Rhodes hit two but his hare and Hounds team lost 7-0 to St James FC. Darren Latham hit one as the Duke of Wellington went down 4-3 to Browns Wine Bar, while Eddie Roberts’ maximum was consolation for the Heywood, beaten 6-1 by the Engineers.
In the women’s competition, a 144 from Angela Noon in the Duke’s 4-2 victory over the Woolpack was the highest score of the week. Despite losing the match, the Woolpack finished runners-up to the Duke of Wellington in the title race.
