DARTS: THE Hare and Hounds picked up their first win when they beat Heywood Cricket Club 5-2 last week, the halfway stage in the 18-week Heywood Summer League.

Steve Kinnear hit a 180 by way of consolation for his Browns Wine Bar outfit, beaten by the odd game in seven by the Bay Horse. The Duke of Wellington got the better of the Hark to Towler 4-3 with the help of a 180 from Darren Latham.

In the Heywood Ladies Summer League, Ann Brady hit a 148 score as her Duke of Wellington team whitewashed the Brown Cow 6-0, while Julie Bleasdale’s 132 contributed to the 5-1 win the Hark to Towler had at the Bay Horse.

Heywood go to the Grove, Blackley, on Sunday hoping to repeat the 4-3 victory they enjoyed against them at the Bay Horse earlier in the summer. Players are requested to meet at the Bay Horse for an 11.30 am departure.

The team is currently third of five in the first division of the competition but victory in their three remaining matches could see them sneak the title, or at least pick runners-up prize money.
