Brady wins in thrilling final

HEYWOOD drew 5-5 with St Anne’s on Sunday, Steve Cross leading the way with checkouts of 90, 116 plus a 75 average.

Matt Langley hit a 180, while Chris Jacques, Carl Langley and Paul Langford also won.

Rochdale’s Steve Jackson joined Heywood’s Darren Latham and Dave Brown in the final of the Highlander Spring Classic, which will be played on 21 May, when he beat Kenny Brierley, in the final of the third heat last Wednesday. Further heats are being held in the next few weeks. There is a main prize of £200 and entry is only £3.

The last event of the Heywood Ladies Darts League, the 133 knockout, saw Anne Brady from the Duke of Wellington beat Crown hotshot Liz Cox by the odd leg in three in a nail biting final. Brady had overcome Reform Club’s Vanessa Healey in the semi-finals, the stage at which Cox got the better of Carol Hayes from Stonemasons.

In the Admiral Taverns B Division title play-off, Grapes beat Heywood B, 4-3. Winners on the night for Grapes were Terry Howarth, Daz Hill, Steve Cross and Kevin Moran. Heywood B’s three successes came from John Icely, Alex Rowan and Barry Wray.

The Admiral Taverns Dominoes Knockout on 1 May has been moved to the Woolpack.

Players from Summit, Bay Horse, Royal George, Highlander and the Freemasons are asked to check their dominoes sheet to confirm the venue.
