Ryan is setting a speedy pace

17/ 4/2008

CYCLING: IT WAS a return to the Levens Course in Cumbria on Saturday for two ABC Centreville riders to take part in a 10-mile time trial.

This week the wind wasn’t as strong as previously, but still gusty enough to test the competitors to the full.

Kristian Ramsden improved by 40 seconds from his last ride with a time of 25mins 23secs. John Burston took a minute from last week’s time to clock 26-37.

Last week’s first training ride on Pilsworth was quite good with some sound performances being attained for this time of the season and one or two on a par with midsummer times.

Ryan Whatmough, 12, has been attending the British Cycling Sprint School at Newport Velodrome and last week he was asked to attempt a paced flying 200 metres with his pacer none other than world champion Jamie Staff. Ryan’s time of 12.7secs was excellent and augurs well for the future.
