Sensei Danny Brierley gave a special mention to Jorden Seigenberg and George Jones who both double graded.

The club meets at Sandon House, Taylor Street on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7pm to 8pm (all ages) all grades £4, and on Saturdays 11am to 12.30pm, £5. No signing up fees.

Beginners are welcome from age six and above, mixed classes for children and adults. Anyone wishing to learn Goju-ryu self defence can wear tracksuit bottoms and a tee-shirt to begin with.

And as Sensei Brierley explained: "There are no quick fixes, the ability to defend yourself is learned, with practice over time."
