Faye's going for gold

10/ 4/2008

YOUNG gymnast Faye Padden is again going for gold, after bagging five top medals at a top gymnastics competition.

Faye, who has just turned 14, has previously represented Great Britain, and has been a gymnastics fan since she can remember.

At Stockport School of Gymnastics’ Easter Competition, Faye triumphed for Rochdale to achieve five gold medals and a trophy.

"Apparently when I was little, I couldn’t sit still," said Faye. "My childminder told my parents they should put me in for gymnastics and I’ve loved it ever since."

Faye now trains at Rochdale Olympics Gymnastics Club and gets plenty of practice in at her school, Siddal Moor Sports College.

She has also started to train younger members of the club.

"It’s nice because they are in the same position I was in when I was there age," she said.

"I can relate to what it was like and try to make things easier for them. I love the sport so it’s good to be able to pass some of my experience on."
