England call for Rendo Kai champions

HEYWOOD Rendo Kai Karate Club are celebrating their success last weekend at the JSKA Open Championships in Liverpool.
In their respective categories, Lee Power took first place in Kata and Kumite, Craig Cooke was second in both disciplines, Ben Gidley took first spot in Kata and third in Kumite. Robbie Cooke was first in Kata and third in Kumite.
Power, Craig Cooke and Steve Woby claimed first place in the Team Kumite event and they will be travelling to Spain to take part in the JSKA European Championships.
And, as an added bonus, Power, Craig Cooke, Gidley and Robbie Cooke will represent England in the World Championships at the Manchester Velodrome in August.
Rendo Kai chief instructor Sensei Marc Leacock was delighted and said: "I am very proud of their achievements which are a reward for their hard work."
The club trains at St Joseph’s Church Hall, Hind Hill Street from 6pm, and Saturdays at 10.30am. Beginners welcome.
