HEYWOOD’S three-year Wood Cup winning streak was emphatically ended by Monton and Weaste on Sunday.
The Salford side lifted their first piece of CLL silverware with a seven-wicket victory, achieved with 19 overs to spare in the final at Werneth’s Coppice ground.
ON Saturday, for perhaps the first time this season, the localised weather conditions enjoyed by the Central Lancashire League did not work against Heywood, as they managed to complete what turned out to be a five-point victory over Clifton, and extend their lead at the top of the table to six points.
