Southend 1 Stockport 1

11/10/2008

LEON McSweeney kept County's unbeaten away league record going with a spectacular equaliser just two minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute.

Jim Gannon had included both Thursday's loan signings Tony Kane and Jaroslaw Fojut in a revamped defence.

But the home side, who had won their previous four games, took the lead in the 19th minute when keeper Adam Federeci's goal kick was flicked on by Alex Revell and finished by Lee Barnard.

County's loan keeper Fraser Forster, playing in place of Owain fon Williams who is away on international duty, produced a flying save to keep out Kevin Betsy's curling effort.

Anthony Pilkington's glancing header, which was parried by Federeci, gave underperforming Stockport some hope at the start of the second-half.

And they were back on level terms in the 64th minute when McSweeney unleashed a wonder strike that curled over the keeper from 25 yards.

Dan Harding's late challenge on McSweeney was punished with a straight red card in the 68th minute, but County were unable to take advantage of the extra man to force a winner.
