Bridge under way with narrow win

HAVING had the first two games of the season postponed due to the bad weather Bridge Colts under 16s got their season under way with a 2-1 North Bury League Cup victory against Marauders Tigers.

After a scrappy opening spell Marauders took the lead when a free kick was deflected past a bemused Ryan Tetlow in goal.

Bridge fought back and skipper Brandon Petrillo levelled from the penalty spot.

A fantastic solo goal from Sam Smith, who beat three players before drilling home a low angled shot to give Bridge the lead.

Tetlow then made two good saves to help Bridge into the next round.

Bridge Colts man of the match was Jason Collins.

Bridge under 11s A continued their winning start to the season with a 6-1 victory against local rivals Clarence.

Bridge were in control from the off and took the lead when the Clarence keeper slipped, allowing a Marsi shot to find its way into the net.

An own goal put Bridge two up, before a fierce strike by Harrison increased their lead.

Clarence then produced their best football of the match and pulled a goal back, when a long ball caught out the Bridge defence.

Bridge reacted positively and scored the goal of the game when Marsi released Ashcroft on the left and he delivered an inch perfect pass into the path of Harrison to score his second of the game.

The second half was all Bridge who added goals from Blomfield and Georgiu.

Bridge under 10s B were superb in beating Westbury Thunder 5-3 in the North Bury Cup, goals coming from Ewan Fox (2), Morgan Lang, Parker and Euan Smith.

Bridge Colts under 16s Walshaw Park Wolves

Sam Wright opened the scoring who showed the composure in front of goal that Bridge were destined not to reproduce!

The Bridge boys found themselves 2-1 down by the break. In the second half Bridge continued to dominate and eventually Dean Giannikizakis showed a flash of speed and managed to latch on to the loose ball and crash it past The Wolves helpless keeper.

Giannikizakis came close to a second but Bridge had to settle for a point.
