SC Bury 0 - 7 Heywood Reform

24/ 9/2008

HEYWOOD Reform continued their good run of form with a commanding 7-0 win at SC Bury on Sunday.

In an attempt to satisfy the players' demands for inclusion in the team Jamie McCulloch and Mick Grogan have the difficult task ahead of them, and in order to maintain a ‘happy’ squad the joint managers will pick each Sunday's team accordingly and, ideally, they will be supported by all the players in the current squad.

Injuries, suspensions, work commitments will, at times, deplete the squad and it is important that players who miss out do not ‘spit out the dummy’ as they are a major factor in the make up of a strong and successful team and the Heywood Reform Club.

Jordan Gill, making his full debut, opened the scoring, heading home at the far post.

Scott Hardy rounded the keeper to double Reform’s advantage, before John Tatton added a third, making no mistake from when racing on to Hogarth’s defence splitting pass.

Five minutes into the second half Lee Grogan’s long clearance found Nuttall who scored from 12 yards to put Reform 4-0 ahead. That gave manager McCulloch the opportunity to give Tait, Hulse and Carney a taste of the action.

Reform went further ahead when Gill was on hand to convert after Weatherilt’s thunderbolt was spilled by the SC Bury keeper. And Tatton bagged his second after another fine pass opened up the Bury defence.

It was left to Carney to round off a magnificent seven with a spectacular long-range effort.

Reform’s display highlighted the wealth of skill, commitment and desire shown by the 11 players on the pitch - whoever they are.

The next three Sundays see Reform in cup action starting with a home game against Skye FC from Blackpool on Sunday

Elizabethan (a) in the Bury and District Challenge Cup are the opponents on 5 October and 12 October sees Reform travel to Blackpool to take on Quilligans in the North West Champions Cup.

Sunday’s match against Skye in the Max Local LFA Trophy, second round, will be played at Phoenix Park adjacent to the Lidl Supermarket, kick-off 11am.

It promises to be an entertaining match and with free admission Reform are hoping for a good turnout from local football supporters.
