HEYWOOD St James were unlucky not to take something from a nine-goal thriller at Phoenix Park on Saturday.
The locals went two goals down, the second a penalty, but pulled one back through Lynch.
The visitors added a third, before Simpson popped up to score Saints’ second. Stand then went 5-2 ahead after a second penalty and some sloppy defending by Saints.
The hosts, though, showed their battling qualities as Lynch added a third and Nicholson converted the third spot kick of the match. It wasn't enough and, despite looking the better team for long periods of the match Saints paid the penalty for silly mistakes.
Saints’ man of the match was John Tatton.
On Saturday Heywood St James travel to Wythenshawe Town. Players meet clubhouse 12.30pm.
