New name, new venue

HEYWOOD St James Reform start pre-season training this Sunday ahead of their third season in the Bury and District Sunday Football League. Training will begin at 11am at the sports centre and new players are welcome to attend.

The club will be playing under a slightly different name this season as they have moved to a new pitch at Phoenix Park which is also home to Saturday afternoon amateur football club Heywood St James.

An arrangement between the two clubs has been made so that the pitch will only be played on one day a weekend to prevent over use. Reform secretary Dennis Booth would like to thank Bob and Danny Dyson for their hard work in keeping the pitch in good condition for both teams.

Jamie McCulloch and Mick Grogan will again be leading the Reform side who, by winning the title last season will represent the Bury league in the Champion of Champions KO competition for the first time.

Involvement in the Premier Division, internal cup competitions, the Lancashire Sunday Trophy and the Champion of Champions tournament mean that the team will be taking on board new players in what will be a busy season.

HEYWOOD St James are in action again this weekend when they travel to face Little Lever on Saturday. All players meet at the club house at 1pm.
