Soccer season ends in style

ROACH Dynamos Junior Football Club held an annual end of season presentation night last week at the Heywood Civic Hall to celebrate a hugely successful season.

The event was for age groups under sevens through to under 14s.

Almost 500 people, including players, friends and family were present to see every player presented with an award.

Individual awards for each team for players’ player, manager’s player, most improved and clubman of the year were also handed out.

After the awards, everyone enjoyed a disco.

  • HEYWOOD Rangers under 10s were looking to break their duck when they faced Shawclough in the final match of the season. Rangers hadn’t won a match this season and were determined to finish on a high. They were given a superb start when a great run and finish by Peter Fielding put them in front. Rangers kept up the pressure and after a clever one-two between Rowan and Peter Fielding, the latter netted Rangers’ second to put them 2-0 up at half time.

    In the second half Heywood picked up the pace and Fielding completed his hat-trick. They added a fourth when a superb pass from Robin McMullen set up Rowan Fielding for his first goal of the game.McMullen and Forshaw then combined to set up Matthew Smith for a fifth.

    Shawclough hit back with two late goals, but Rangers had done enough and celebrated a much needed and well deserved victory.

  • HEYWOOD Reform hold their annual presentation at the Tower Street club on Sunday. The event starts at 1.30pm. All players are invited to attend.
