Dynamos win clinches League title

ROACH Dynamos under 13s went into their final game of the season knowing a win would make them league champions.

Roach were up against a very well organised Bolton Lads and Girls and found themselves 1-0 down after poor marking from a corner.

The Heywood team showed the character which has seen them through the season and equalised when captain and man of the match Kieran Burns whipped a superb cross into the top corner. As the second half went on Roach applied all the pressure but couldn’t get their noses in front.

They got a huge slice of luck when a Kieran Kelly cross was deflected into the Bolton goal. Roach were now in touching distance of the title and top scorer Kelly made sure of the points and the title when he slammed a 40-yard free kick into the top corner.

There were jubilant scenes at the end as the boys hard work and determination were rewarded, as they were crowned League Champions.

The under 15s took on North Walkden at the weekend and, although the visitors only had 10 men they battled hard and made it very difficult for Roach.

Eventually, though, the Heywood side proved too strong for their opponents and won the game comfortably.

Goals from Jack Kyle, Tom Warwick, Danny Banks and a hat-trick from Adam Thomas saw Roach romp to a 6-1 victory, with an impressive passing performance.

The player of the match was Jamie Byrne for a clever performance in the centre of midfield.
