Hargreaves 1 - 4 Stonemasons

STONEMASONS are just a stone’s throw away from title glory after an impressive 4-1 win at Hargreaves in Asia Restaurant Division One on Saturday.
The visitors opened the scoring just two minutes into the game when McHale’s shot rebounded off the keeper into the path of Smith who duly finished from close range.
Penrose put Stonemasons 2-0 up a few minutes later after slick build-up play. Winger Hughes cut in from the right-hand side before laying the ball into the path of Penrose who finished from six yards.
Hargreaves reduced the deficit to 2-1 in rather fortuitous fashion when a long-range effort ricocheted off the cross bar onto the keeper and into the back of the net. But just before half time Stonemasons restored their two-goal advantage when Smith once again pounced from close range for his second.
Hargreaves frustrated the Heywood outfit for long spells in the second half but the league leaders eventually put the game to rest when Smith tapped in from close range to complete his hat-trick and seal all three points for the away team.
Stonemasons now need one victory from their remaining three games to be certain of title success.
