Stonemasons stay five points clear

STONEMASONS remain five points clear at the top of Asia Restaurant Division One after storming to a 6-2 victory on home soil over Rope and Anchor on Saturday
The league leaders were fast out of the traps and took the lead after just 10 minutes with Ross Jones firing home from 12 yards after latching on to a precise through ball from skipper Adam Davies.
The home side doubled their lead soon after with Davies again the provider, this time from a corner, assisting Stephen Penrose who rose above his marker and headed the ball into the back of the net.
Stonemasons then suffered two setbacks mid-way through the first half when Davies had to leave the field after damaging his ankle and then minutes later Rope and Anchor pulled a goal back with Lewis Perry scoring his first of the afternoon. Jones claimed his second of the game just before half-time to make it 3-1 to Stonemasons at the interval.
The away team hit back from the restart with Perry scoring his second for Rope and Anchor. But Stonemasons moved up a gear and regained their two-goal advantage with Penrose smashing the ball in from close range after a goal mouth scramble to put Stonemasons 4-2 in front.
Penrose headed in a perfect cross from Andrew Cross to complete his hat-trick late in the second half before Carl Orman compounded Rope and Anchor’s misery with yet another headed goal from a corner to wrap up all three points for Stonemasons.
The game finished 6-2. Penrose was named man of the match.
