No tree cheers for Reform

HEYWOOD Reform suffered a setback last Sunday when their match at Prestwich CC was postponed because of a tree blown over in the wind had fallen on the pitch.
Reform are facing a fixture backlog as they strive to complete their outstanding Cup and League programme by 11 May – the final date set by the Bury and District Sunday League.
Reform secretary Dennis Booth explained that with seven Sundays available, night matches on Tuesdays and Thursdays start on 10 April and provide a further nine dates, making 16 in all.
Reform have 12 matches to play and a possible five Cup matches, 17 in total.
"At the time of going to press," said Booth, "I have heard unofficially that Crown have resigned from the League. If this confirmed then Reform’s backlog will reduce to a possible 16. It will, though, be a massive blow to local football and the Bury Street pub.
"It’s a difficult time for Reform, but the players and committee will strive to keep the momentum going and, ironically, see which way the wind blows."
On Sunday, Reform entertain Elton Vale at Heywood Sports Centre in the quarter final of the Challenge Cup. Players meet sports centre 9.30am for a 10.30am kick-off.
