Dynamos’ winning formula

5/ 3/2008

ROACH Dynamos open age team ended a run of nine consecutive defeats with a solid performance and a 4-2 victory at home to Astley Bridge.

The visitors took the lead on 20 minutes, but almost immediately, Mark Woodall scored a cracker to level the scores.

Just before the interval, Jack Simpson scored his first of the season to put Roach ahead.

In the second half, Roach continued to press and Ryan Constantine came off the bench to score two and, despite the visitors getting a second, the home team’s determination saw them through.

Max Law was tremendous in the heart of the Roach midfield, but Danny Burns, on the left, was named player of the match for a non-stop performance.

Roach under 13s recorded their biggest win of the season with a 14-0 win against FC Bears.

Despite the difficult playing conditions, Roach played some excellent attacking football and controlled the game from start to finish.

The goalscorers were Kieran Kelly (3), Jack Greenhalgh (3), Sam Bishop (3), Liam Mottershead, Kieran Burns (2), Ryan McSweeney and James Steele.

Player of the match was Sam Bishop who was a constant threat on the right wing and scored his first hat-trick for the club.

The under 15s continued their impressive form on Sunday with a 6-3 victory over Farnworth.

Roach took a two-goal lead through Jack Kyle and Adam Thomas, before the visitors pulled one back from a corner kick. In the second half and with the wind at their backs they soon made it 5-1, Kyle and Danny Banks adding to the tally.

Farnworth pulled two back and piled the pressure on the Roach defence.

But keeper Luke Woodall, who saved a penalty, and his defence stood firm and, after some neat play through the middle of the park, Jamie Byrne sealed the points with a neat finish in the dying minutes.

The whole team were fantastic but Tom Warwick was named player of the match for bossing the game from centre midfield.
