THE Advertiser skydive appeal has crashed through the £4,000 barrier.

Staff members Michael Byrne and Vicki Holman are just two days away from taking the St Patrick's Day plunge in aid of the Mayor's Charities Appeal.

The latest cash to come in has come from Argos and Mike Goldrick Window Blinds.

Staff at the Argos warehouse at Heywood Distribution Park raised £141 by holding a raffle to win a surround sound system.

Mike Goldrick Window Blinds customers also chipped in with £100. The Rochdale Road company kindly put out some sponsor sheets for us and made a £1 donation for every order over £150.

Amanda Peace-Walters, from Argos, said: "We were very happy to be involved with the parachute jump and I really pleased with the response from the staff who bought tickets."

Mike Goldrick said: "I am really pleased with the contribution to the fund."

Michael Byrne, the Advertiser's deputy editor, said: "We couldn't have done this without the support of local businesses and the people of Heywood. Vicki and I are very grateful to everyone who has sponsored us.

"People can still sponsor us if they want and push the total up even higher. So if you have a few spare pounds you want to give to a worthy cause then please get in touch."
