Meeting is in the pipeline
22/ 2/2006
CONTROVERSIAL plans to change the way health services are provided for Heywood people will come under the spotlight again next month when a second workshop is held.
Like the mass public consultation exercise into the Healthy Futures programme, the workshop will give people the chance to talk over any advantages or drawbacks they see in the proposals.
The event will be held at Pennine Way Hotel, Oldham on Thursday, March 16 from 9.30am to 3.30pm and is a follow-up to one attended by 300 people - including some from Heywood - in Bury last July.
All kinds of topics will be on the next agenda, including transport, waiting lists and appointments, and preventive care.
Health chiefs describe the event as an impact assessment and say the aim is to judge the kind of impact the proposed changes to boost community health care but develop some specialist hospital services on fewer sites would have on local communities.
Anyone who wants to attend the event, which will include childcare facilities, help with transport and a buffet lunch, should call 0161 655 1712 by next Tuesday, February 28.
