A TEENAGER was taken to hospital after a road accident.

The 15-year-old was hit on Rochdale Road East in Heywood by a black Ford Focus at 7.05pm on Sunday.

He suffered a broken arm and serious cuts and was taken to Rochdale Infirmary, but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The car was later found abandoned and a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
