Man badly hurt in crash

Amy Glendinning
4/ 4/2008

A 23-YEAR-old man was seriously injured after his car was in collision with a skip wagon at the junction of Coronation Avenue and Manchester Road.

The crash, which took place at 7.05am on Friday, left Coronation Avenue and part of Manchester Road blocked off until it was re-opened at lunchtime.

Fire crews worked to cut the man out of his car after paramedics became concerned that he was having trouble breathing.

He was taken to Fairfield Hospital where his condition is described as ‘serious’.

The driver of the skip wagon was said to be in shock but uninjured.

Police are now investigating the incident and have appealed for any witnesses to contact the Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 8473.
