Police clamp down on HGVs

by Lisa Gray
9/ 4/2008

POLICE officers clamped down on HGVs in Hopwood as part of a two-day covert operation to make the streets safer.

The initiative, organised by Heywood police chief, Inspector Darrell Butterworth, was in response to repeated complaints from residents and councillors at PACT (Police and Communities Together) meetings that HGVs illegally driving down Middleton Road put lives in danger and exacerbate traffic problems for other road users.
