Yobs put rail passengers under fire

by Frank Wood
9/ 4/2008

STONE throwing yobs have again had passengers and staff ducking for cover as trains pass through Heywood on the East Lancashire Railway line.

ELR staff have already given the Pot Hall area of town the unwelcome title of "worst blackspot on the whole railway" for vandalism and fly-tipping.

I agree with the last comment, I have never liked Labour, they can come up with however many 'antisocial behaviour' schemes that they like but you know what, it's never worked and never will. TIME FOR CHANGES!!!!

As good as it is to read comments as to what steps and funding will be allocated by central government to tackle the issues of crime and youth issues. However do you all not think enough is enough. Every time I read the advertiser it is total doom and gloom. How often do we see the heywood community unite against these yobs and say enough is enough. No we leave it to the government and police to sort. Heywood has the chance with all of the new developments and people wishing to live her to make a difference. So many people like to talk the talk but no action or very little. Even the MP, forget about sitting in the house of parliament. He should be walking the streets of Heywood looking direct at the issues, not sending some chap to look into it for him. This is not the type of MP we need. We need a pro active MP, Firm and loyal to all heywood people. Is it not the case that if we looked at the crime in Heywood over the previous 6months. It paints a picture that the young yobs run the streets.

I find the police action to be shameful and pitiful. Was it not only a few weeks ago we had cars speeding any a young man die in heywood.hopwood area, bus shelters smashed, trains attacked, homes broken into and car keys taken, windows smashed, developments broken into, young boy attempted abduction, houses set on fire, cars vandalised in edgerton street, drug dealing on the streets, Speeding cars on Manchester street all the time, church windows damaged. All I have listed has happened over a period of a few months. People please just look at the news, its bad bad bad.

We need action NOW, we must take back our town and unite together as we never read in the news what the people are doing.

Our MP should be ashamed

Don't believe all you hear from that government, they have tricked us into believing some of their rubbish before now, like when they said they were going to stop the cuts to health services, also when they said that cutting services was going to be good - as if! We need to make a stand, no tolerance for this sort of behaviour, at the minute, it seems that this Anti social behaviour is being let off to a certain extent.

Do not worry or concern yourself. The whole situation is under control In his latest "Dobbyblog" dated 26/3/08 our MP says "A thousand of the most challenging young people in England will be targeted for non-negotiable (compulsory) intervention as part of a drive to prevent future antisocial behaviour. We will spend over £200 million in three areas: Tough enforcement where behaviour is unacceptable. Non negotiable support to address the underlying causes of anti social behaviour. Better preventive measures to stop young people offending and causing a nuisance in the first place. It is right that our first priority has been to put into place legislation to stop anti-social behaviour in its tracks and to bring respite to communities. This action by the Labour Government will go further in tackling anti social behaviour by making sure we take strong actions to address the underlying causes of such damaging behaviours such as substance misuse and family breakdown. Communities want and deserve lasting improvements and that means not only quickly responding to anti social behaviour when it occurs but also changing it by intervening early to stop bad behaviour spiralling into offending behaviour. That is why the government is investing record sums in positive activities for young people to make sure they have places to go and good access to a range of leisure opportunities. This approach does not condone bad behaviour, nor is it a soft option. If young people and their families refuse to engage and accept support then the right pathway is to enforce the anti social behaviour orders. Young people will have to accept a contract and a key worker who will help them confront their actions and accept the consequences, for example, if substance misuse is a cause, they will have to receive drug treatment. The support provided is non-negotiable and if treatment is refused then enforcement measures will be imposed. With you all the way on this one old boy!
