Style and our city

MOVE over Milan - it's Manchester's turn to shine in the style spotlight with a four day festival of all things fashion. We got a sneak peek of some of the home-grown designs on show for an exclusive shoot. Click on our picture gallery to see all the looks...

DAME Vivienne Westwood, Matthew Williamson, and more recently Henry Holland - the list of dazzling designers to emerge from Manchester over the years goes on and on.

So - instead of watching on as London, Paris, Milan and New York get all the fun - it's high time we had a fashion week of our own.

Step forward Manchester In Fashion, a four-day celebration of all things stylish in the city, starting tomorrow. Packed with catwalk shows, trend talks, designer sales and VIP parties, it's the event to see and be seen at. Kicking off tomorrow night with a celebrity catwalk show in Urbis.

To show their support, big design names of Manchester's past and future, from Wayne Hemingway to recent British Fashion Council scholarship winner Nabil El-Nayal, will be on hand to offer their industry insights.

However, the highlight of it all will be the cool clothes on show, offering up the best of the city's emerging talent and designer wares.

From Prada at Manchester's flagship boutique Flannels, to punk trends in the northern quarter, the regular runway events will have it all. Plus new creations from cult brands and stores based here including Me&Yu, Ringspun and Unique Boutique.

As media partners for the event - based at Urbis but with events across the city at the Arndale Centre and Selfridges - the M.E.N. got access to some of the best buys for a preview shoot.

Catch them on the catwalk by logging on to manchesterinfashion.com for more information and tickets.
