Conrad Murray's Manchester music
by Conrad Murray2/ 6/2005
The Cardinals come ... ahem ... flying back onto the Manchester
music scene with a headline gig at Night & Day on June 21. Ably
supported by the excellence of The Pioneers (who are fresh from
supporting Starsailor), The Cardinals, with their soaring,
tune-packed anthems are Manchester's answer to U2 and, with the
release of their debut single imminent, look set to go massive this
summer. Catch them at this cosy venue before they start selling out
stadiums.
Earlier in the month, on June 10, two of Manchester's most perfect
and prolific promoters come together for a one night stand when
Club Blowout and Akoustik Anarkhy join forces at the Bierkeller.
Jack Cooper is confirmed to play and you can also expect some very
special guests.
Then at Club Blowout on June 17 the brilliant Casual Saints support
Vinny Peculiar whose band includes ex-Smiths Andy Rourke and Mike
Joyce. On the same evening, the mighty Loose Canon play the kinky
delight of a night that is Club Indigo down at Bar Retro - worth
going just for the fantastic fanzine that accompanies the
evening.
Friends of Mine, at Joshua Brooks, play host to the innovative
guitar greats that are Autokat on Saturday 11 June. Make sure that
you check out the musical delights of the Deadbeats - winners of
the Glastonbury unsigned competition - playing Club High Voltage on
16 June at Music Box.
Then on 23 June Peter Hook's favourite new Manchester band
Performance also play at Club High Voltage at Music Box - they
truly are top quality.
