MUSIC: Art Garfunkel, Apollo, Sat 11 Oct

AMERICAN singer Art Garfunkel is, of course, most noted for his musical partnership with songwriter Paul Simon, an alliance which produced some of the greatest folk-pop records of the sixties.

The duo split in 1970 but reunited for a new tour in 2004 – and they seemed to be in great spirits, clearly having patched up any old wounds.

Having reconciled with his past, the more relaxed Art Garfunkel is now hitting the road to perform his new solo material, as well as a few Simon and Garfunkel classics.

Most pleasingly, his vocal ability remains undiminished – sounding as fresh and vibrant as a 20 year old, Art Garfunkel’s voice continues to be a thing of fragile beauty and is without doubt one of the most distinguished voices in pop history.
