Heywood Expats - try our map!

ARE you a former resident of Heywood who has moved abroad and who wants to get back in touch with people still living in the town? Do you know of friends or family who have moved overseas and you want to try and track them down? Well here's your chance with our new interactive map ...

In this section, we're giving an opportunity for people who were parted when locals decided to make new lives overseas to make contact once again.

If you are an ex-pat, who wants to know the whereabouts of a pal or relative, send us the details and we'll post them up here. The same is true of locals - let us know if you want to get back in touch with a local who has left these shores. You never know - they might just visit this site, read your message and you could be reunited.

Alternatively, ex-pats can write to us simply if they want to let the folks back home know what they've been up to, how life overseas is treating them, and what they miss about Heywood.

All you have to do to take advantage of this service is to click here to go to our interactive map of the world , then click on the part of the map where you live. Your own pinpoint will appear which you can move to the exact location you want (use the controls on the top-right of the map to move around and to zoom in and out, right down to street level).

A form will also appear which will allow you to give your name, contact details, reason for moving and anything else you want to share with us.

hi there i am looking for a julie in the heywood area the details i have are as follow she has a daughter named samantha who joined the army she also has 2 twin boys and a niece called debbie. She was also involved with a terence warrick originally from the penrith area between 1970 and 1980 he was a soildier in the british army . MY MAIDEN NAME WAS CROOK AND I LIVED IN ABBEY CRESENT BEFORE MOVING TO LYTHAM DRIVE THEN BAMFORD ROD , I WENT TO ST LUKES SCHOOL THEN HORNBY ST , I REMEMBER BARBARA JACKSON, JEAN WOOD, OLWYN GREENWOOD , AND HEATHER BIRCH AND MANY MORE IN MY CLASS I LEFT HEYWOOD IN 1959 TO LIVE HERE IN TORQUAY . Hi...my mum's family are from Heywood. Mum and Dad left there in 1980 and moved to Perth Western Australia. mum's brother and his family are still in Heywood (Hello Uncle Paul and Aunty Chris and Sarah and Rachel.) Hi my name is andrew clarke (nobby. I lived on darnhill up to 1972,I joined the R.N and I left 10 years10 years ago. I live in scotland just by Loch Lomond. My family still live on Darnhill my brother Aidan owns the bungalow shop on the bottom of argyle street with his wife Sharon. I wonder if anybody Knows a Woman called thersa Wosniak I went to St Joes and she was in the same class as me( we tought her to speak english we did get into trouble for that as you can imagine).So if anybody does knopw please can you tell her I was asking after her. Hey I lived in Heywood for 8 years left in 1980 my sisters and I went to sutherland, I attended from 72-76, we were all from america and went back to live there, we lived on the summit at 4 the medway. if anyone remembers any of us please email thanks. Hi, Although i am not an Expat, I have not lived in heywood since i was 17. I am trying to find a friend of my Dad - Arnold Duckworth- His friend is called Willy Lomax and he married a lady called Pat. Willy and Pat emirgrated to New Zealand in the early 1970s, i know that they had two sons and then returned to the UK. I have tried to track them down in Heywood, but not had much luck. Can anybody help me, I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday and we got talking about Heywood. he is older than me but he wants to know the name of the pub in Heywood that use to have live groups on,on a saturday night. I don't know but I said I will find out.I think it must have the Seven Stars.The rerason he was asking is there was a group playing and sung a song by the Beach Boys "Good Vibrations" and he said they were fantastic and he should know, he has played in groups.

So if anybody can help it would be most appreciated.

I am looking for any descendants of John & Mary Ann Worthington who married at St Joseph's church Heywood in 1885 and had 2 sons, Antonio (Anthony) born June 1891 and Walter born in 1894.
